Internet Marketing & Search Engine Optimisation
Website Design Services
One of the key ingredients of Internet Marketing is Search Engine Optimisation, it is the process of achieving high rankings within the major search engines on a long term basis. By the way, other related terms like Search Engine Marketing, Search Engine Engineering are pretty much all the same thing it's just the the 'name' has been changed to confuse and even exploit the unknowing consumer. For the sake of argument we'll be referring to it as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
Search Engine Optimisation is not an overnight process. The element of time plays to a high degree. Many search engine optimisation 'specialists' claim that they can get you high rankings in a matter of days. To some extent this is true. The real art relates to maintaining consistently high rankings across the major search engines and being aware of their individual rules. Search Engine Optimisation is not rocket science and please don't be fooled into believing this to be true. The real art to SEO is firstly understanding the key areas that will effect your website's ranking performance. Once, you understand or rather know what aspects you need to concentrate your efforts on you will be in a position to truly gain the results and user traffic to your website.
Below we've put together a graph that shows some of the key components that search engines look for in websites. We wanted to show a few of the key aspects, these are the ones where the bars are constantly showing a high level of importance. Some of the other components fluctuate from being quite high in importance to being quite low and vice versa. The graph is not aimed at showing the changes over any given period of time but should be interpretated purely as an identifier as to which components should be included in a website and which ones are likely to experience fluctuations, a prime example of this is the use of META tags i.e. the keywords tag in particular. There are some additional components that also come into play and this is something that we make all of our clients aware of.
You may have heard lots of talk about algorithms and that search engines are constantly changing the ways that they index websites and the information that needs to be in place for your website to gain high rankings. Unfortunately the search engines don't openly publicise what their algorithms are actually based on or indeed state what components of a website will produce good results if they are identified on a website.
At WEB BITE DESIGN we know what works and what simply doesn't, we also know a few tricks that companies have used to try and cheat the search engines (normally to no avail other than getting the website blacklisted). The one thing we set out from the start is to cover as many bases as we can. By doing this we know that whatever the search engines change in their algorithms we will always have our websites designed to allow for these changes.
If a website is consistently strong in all areas of SEO, in terms of how it's been built and the way the copy is written high rankings should always be obtainable. One other factor to think about is that search engines can not afford to be over aggressive with their algorithms as this could lead to a detrimental decline in the quality of relevant results that are returned on search strings. The major search engines are constantly competing against each other to deliver the best and most relevant results to its users, each of them claims that their algorithm is the best, however adapting or changing an algorithm by which a search engine produces its results listings is fraught with danger as the moment a search engine starts to deliver irrelevant or incorrect results; in the eyes of its users at least; the risks of its users switching to another competitors search engine could cost them dearly. Although there are principles in place to guide companies on how to build websites not everyone is fully aware of them or in fact fully utilises them and that includes many website designers!
When we build websites, about 80% of these are required to have Search Engine Optimisation as a key feature. This requires that the proposed website design is in itself search engine friendly. We'll guide you through the process of what the search engines are generally looking for and what information we need from you to ensure that we gain the necessary ranking positions that you are after. We don't make any form of guarantee or wild statements that we can achieve Top #1 positions on Google and MSN for example. However, we do have clients who do achieve Top #1 positions, (so in some ways you could say we're quietly confident).
Also, let's get something out of the way now. "You do not need to resubmit your website every month to the search engines" There are SEO companies that will charge you a fee for this service. Please don't be fooled into thinking that this is money well spent - it isn't. Search engine robots regularly update their individual indexes and as a result it is better to be found by a robot following a link to your new website than actually submitting your web address directly to the search engine.
Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is a method by which website owners pay to attract targeted leads to their site by bidding on specific keyword phrases. This is a quick way for you to propel your site to the top of the search engines. Another great feature of PPC is you have the ability to set budgets so you can control how much you spend. You have the ability to change the amount you bid on a particular keyword phrase and the changes happen in real-time.
PPC allows you to drive targeted traffic to your site right away without having to wait for search engines to find you. You only pay for the searchers that actually click through to your website. This is a great solution for websites that are pursuing Search Engine Optimization campaigns, but want results without having to wait for the SEO results to take effect.
If you're serious about Search Engine Optimisation then we'll deliver to you a professionally managed service that will enable your website to become a prominent player in the rankings battle.
